The staff canteen is part of K273, a new building developed by Betongbygg AS in Sarpsborg. Ørseng Interiørarkitektur was responsible for the interior design of the staff canteen and the building’s shared areas.

The project placed strong emphasis on creating an intimate and atmospheric environment. The staff canteen is designed to function efficiently in everyday use, while also being easily adaptable for events and capable of transforming into a bar and restaurant area when needed.

Material quality has played a central role in shaping a cohesive overall experience. The walls are clad in red-stained oak veneer, combined with red tiled wainscoting and oak window reveals. The counter is crafted using high-quality materials, featuring profiled oak detailing and integrated concealed lighting. Together, these elements add warmth, character and a strong identity, while visually tying the interior together across different functions.

The result is a carefully considered and inviting space that supports both daily use and social gatherings, strengthening the building’s shared meeting places.
